This Privacy Notice explains how Save the Children Federation, Inc. (“SCUS”, “we” or “us”) collects and processes your Personal Data. Each time you use our Site, the current version of the Privacy Notice will apply. 

By visiting www.savethechildren.org (the “Site”), you acknowledge that you have read and understood the processes and policies referred to in this Privacy Notice and consent to our data collection, use, sharing and processing practices as set forth in this Privacy Notice.

The Personal Information We Collect:

Categories of Personal Data: Depending on the type of communication or transaction, we may collect and process the following categories of Personal Data directly from you:

• Name
• Gender
• Date of birth
• Postal address
• Telephone numbers
• Email address
• Credit card, bank information or billing information
• Data obtained from you in connection with this SMS service may include your mobile phone number, your carrier’s name and the date, time and content of your messages. We may use this information to contact you and provide the services you request from us.
• Details about our contacts with you through email, SMS, U.S. Post, on the phone or in person (i.e., the date, time, and method of contact), details about donations you make to us, events or activities that you register for or attend and any other support you provide to us. 
• Any other relevant information you share with us about yourself, including your interests or your affiliations with other charities, community groups, your employer or a Save the Children corporate partner.

With regard to each of your visits to the Site we will automatically collect the following information:

• Information about your visit
• Location information

Personal Data we collect from other sources: Other than Personal Data we receive directly from you, we receive Personal Data about you if you use any of the other websites (operated by us, or another member of our group) or use any other services provided by another member of our group or us. This Personal Data may include:

• Name
• Email address
• Phone number
• Donation activity including other organizations to which you have made donations
• Gender
• Date of birth
• Postal address
• Number of children in the home
• Country of origin
• Income band
• Total wealth band
• Spoken language
• Marital status
• Birthdates of up to 4 children in the home

• Took advocacy action at other charity or advocacy group
• Clicked on website of another charity

Personal Data we collect automatically: When you visit our Site, we collect the following information including:

• Local time zone

How We Use Your Personal Data

We may use Personal Data for the following purposes:

• To carry out our obligations arising from your membership or recurring giving, or any other contract entered into between you and us and to provide you with the information, products and membership services that you request from us;
• To provide you with information about our work or our activities;
• To fundraise in accordance with our internal policies and procedures;
• To organize events that you have registered for, and to provide you with information, and other materials, relating to the content of the event, the speakers, recurring donors and other attendees;
• To process donations, recurring giving and purchases from our Gift Guide;
• To provide our newsletters and publications, provided you have given your consent;
• To respond to your questions and provide related services;
• To provide you with information about other events, products and services we offer that are similar to those that you have already purchased or attended, provided you have not opted-out of receiving that information;
• To provide you, or permit selected third parties to provide you, with information about events, products or services we feel may interest you, provided you have given your consent;
• To tailor advertising that is presented to you on the Internet according to your interests, preferences and other characteristics (as described below);
• To respond to applications for employment;
• To transfer your information as part of a merger or sale of the business;
• To ensure that content from our Site is presented most effectively for you and your computer;
• Where we are required by law to disclose or otherwise use your information.

Information we collect about you. We will use this Personal Data:

• To administer our Site and for internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, statistical and survey purposes;
• If you make a donation, we will use this Personal Data to create an account for you where you can securely access your donation history;
• To improve our Site to ensure that content is presented most effectively for you and your computer;
• As part of our efforts to keep our Site safe and secure;
• To measure or understand the effectiveness of advertising we serve to you and others, and to deliver relevant advertising to you; and
• To make suggestions and recommendations to you and other users of our Site about goods or services that may interest you or them.

Personal Data we receive from other sources:

• We will combine this information with information you give us and information we collect about you. We will use this information and the combined Personal Data for the purposes set out above.

Our Site use third-party tools (such as Google Analytics and other Google services), to support the operation and performance of our Site and to analyze your interactions and experiences with our Site, including the features you engage with, how you navigate, and your click/touch, movement, scroll, and keystroke activity. Our Site also uses Adobe Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Adobe Systems Inc. (“Adobe”). Adobe Analytics uses cookies to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Adobe on servers in the United States. Adobe will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. We use Adobe Target which allows us to test and optimize the experience that you receive on the site. It uses cookies and data collected by Adobe Analytics to display to you new and existing features and content on the website that we think are relevant to you or would improve your experience on the website.

Adobe may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Adobe’s behalf. Adobe will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Adobe. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. Sensitive Personal Data: Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect sensitive personal data about you, as defined in the applicable U.S. state privacy laws. For example, we may collect sensitive personal data for the purposes allowed by law or with your consent if you participate in any of our programs. We do not collect or process sensitive personal data for the purpose of inferring characteristics about you.

Children’s Personal Data:

We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 18 without verifiable parent or guardian consent. If you are under 18, do not send any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone numbers, or email address, unless you have your parent’s or guardian’s permission. In the event we learn that we collected personal information from anyone under the age of 18, and do not have a parent or guardian’s consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible.

In accordance with certain state laws, minors may remove or request and obtain removal of content and information that they post on the Site.

Categories of Parties to Whom We Disclose Personal Data

Save the Children May Share Your Personal Data with the Following Parties for any of the following business purposes:

• With other Save the Children entities
• With partners, suppliers, and sub-contractors
• Credit Card Transactions, Electronic Fund Transfers, Payments by Check or Money Order and Online Financial Transactions. Save the Children hires third parties to provide credit card, bank, payment and information processing services and order fulfillment services. If you choose to make an application for employment, make a donation online (including our Gift Guide), by phone, through the mail or by other means, we will share your personal data with our processing service providers
• Analytics and search engine providers that assist us in the improvement and optimization of our Site
• Trusted third-party companies and individuals
• Other non-profits
• In the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we will disclose your Personal Data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or asset
• If compelled by a legal or regulatory authority.

Sale of Personal Data and Our Use of Personal Data for Targeted Advertising Purposes

Save the Children discloses the following categories of your Personal Data to third parties via marketing cooperatives and through online tracking technologies on our Site for targeted advertising purposes or analytics purposes. Under certain state privacy laws, these disclosures are considered a “sale.” To opt-out of the sale and use of your personal data for targeted advertising purposes, submit a request to opt-out as described in the section titled, “The Right to Opt Out of the Sale of Your Data for Targeted Advertising Purposes” below. 

• Basic Identifiers: sold and disclosed to advertisers and marketing cooperatives and partners, data analytics providers and social media networks for advertising purposes via website cookies and tracking technologies 

• Device Information and Other Unique Identifiers (e.g., IP address, browser type, clickstream data) and cookies and related technology data (e.g., your usage and activity on our Sites): sold and disclosed to advertisers and marketing partners, data analytics providers and social media networks for advertising purposes via website cookies and tracking technologies.

How Long We Store Your Personal Data:

We will store your Personal Data, in a form which permits us to identify you, for no longer than is necessary for the purpose for which the Personal Data is processed. We may retain and use your Personal Data as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements and rights, or if it is not technically reasonably feasible to remove it. Consistent with these requirements, we will try to delete your Personal Data quickly upon request.

How We Keep Your Information Secure:

At Save the Children, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of security to protect the information entrusted to us. We use industry standard encryption technologies, including TLS to secure data in transit and AES to safeguard data at rest, ensuring strong protection throughout the data lifecycle. Access to sensitive information is strictly limited to authorized personnel through role based access controls designed to prevent unauthorized viewing or handling of data. Our systems are continuously monitored to detect any signs of unauthorized access or misuse, enabling rapid identification of potential threats. In the event of a security incident or data breach, we will promptly notify affected individuals and take immediate corrective action to mitigate impact and prevent recurrence. We retain data only for as long as necessary to meet business or legal requirements, after which it is securely deleted in accordance with industry best practices. This commitment reflects our dedication to safeguarding privacy, maintaining trust, and upholding a secure operating environment.

Your Privacy Rights

The Right to Opt-Out of the Sale of Your Data for Targeted Advertising Purposes 
As described in the section titled, “Sale of Personal Data and Our Use of Personal Data for Targeted Advertising Purposes,” our use of online tracking technologies may be considered a “sale” under applicable law. You can opt out of the sale of your Personal Data by clicking the “Your Privacy Choices” link at the bottom of our website and selecting your preferences.

If you do not have an account with Save the Children or you are not logged into your account, your request to opt out of “sale”/targeted advertising will be linked to your browser identifier only and not linked to any account information because the connection between your browser and the account is not known to us.

The Right to Accessing, Correcting, and Deleting Personal Data
You have the right to request access to and receive details about the Personal Data we maintain about you and how we have processed it, correct inaccuracies, get a copy of, or delete your Personal Data. You may also have the right to withdraw your consent to our processing of your Personal Data. These rights may be limited in some circumstances by applicable law.

Access and Deletion
You can submit a request to access or delete your Personal Data, or withdraw consent, by sending an email to privacy@savechildren.org or by calling 1-800-728-3843

Corrections 
You can correct information related to your account by: logging into your account on https://www.savethechildren.org or sending an email to supportercare@savechildren.org.

A Portable Copy of Your Personal Data 
You may submit a request for a copy of the Personal Data collected about you up to twice per year by sending an email to privacy@savechildren.org.

Responding to Requests
 Once you have submitted your request, we will respond within the time frame permitted by the applicable law. Please note that we may charge a reasonable fee for multiple requests in the same 12-month period, as permitted by law.

Appealing Requests 
You may appeal our decision to your request regarding your personal information. To do so, please contact us in any of the ways listed in the “Contact Us” section. We respond to all appeal requests as soon as we reasonably can, and no later than legally required.

Identity Verification 
For us to process some requests, we will need to verify your identity to confirm that the request came from you. We may contact you by phone or e-mail to verify your request. Depending on your request, we will ask for information such as your name, an e-mail address that you have used on www.savethechildren.org or your Donor ID.

Authorized Agent
 You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf to access or delete your personal information. To do so, you must: (1) provide that authorized agent written and signed permission to submit such request; and (2) verify your own identity directly with us. Please note, we may deny a request from an authorized agent that does not submit proof that they have been authorized by you to act on your behalf.

To submit a request as an authorized agent on behalf of a consumer, please send us an email at privacy@savechildren.org with your first and last name and a phone number at which we may contact you. Please indicate in the subject line that you are making an Authorized Agent Request.

Information for Residents of the European Union (EU) or United Kingdom (UK) 
We will only process your Personal Data including sharing it with third parties, where (1) you have provided your consent (which can be withdrawn at any time), or (2) the processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which you are a party, or (3) we are required by law, or (4) the processing is required to protect your vital interests or those of another person, (5) or the processing is necessary for the purposes of our legitimate commercial interests (except where such interests are overridden by your rights and interests).

You have the right to ask us not to process your Personal Data for marketing purposes. We will inform you (before collecting your Personal Data) if we intend to use your Personal Data for such purposes or if we intend to disclose your information to any third party for such purposes. You can exercise your right to prevent such processing by checking certain boxes on the forms we use to collect your Personal Data. You can also exercise the right by contacting us using the Contact Us section on our Site.

Under European data protection law, in certain circumstances, you have the right to:
